Nawal Leon Kurson Joins Team Australia

Artistic Swimming Australia (ASA) is delighted to announce another addition to its team Nawal Leon Kurson, as the Assistant Coach at the Hancock Prospecting National Training Centre.

Acrobatic Routine Added to Olympic Games Programme

On November 15, the International Swimming Federation (FINA) announced via social media that the Acrobatic Routine was added to the Olympic Games programme as part of the team event for 2024. The team medal should now be determined by combining the scores of the technical routine, free routine, and acrobatic routine. Artistic swimming will still only have two medal events at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris: women’s duet and team.

Krisztina Szedlak named as the new National Pathway Coach

Krisztina Szedlak has taken on the newly created National Pathway Coach for Artistic Swimming Australia position.  The National Pathway Coach has technical responsibilities for the pathway system spanning coach and judge Development, increasing the number of athletes and the quality of the daily training environment.

What Is Changing With The New Artistic Swimming Rules?

In short: a whole lot. In artistic swimming, the rules are usually revised the year after the Olympic Games. This cycle is no exception, although this time the entire scoring system is being overhauled. Let’s dive into some of the main changes ahead of the 2022-2025 competitive cycle. Bear in mind that all must still be voted on at the FINA Technical Congress held from October 3-5. They are however expected to be approved and to come into play in a few months.
