The first camp based at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) between the 6th – 18th of January was a great success. The Junior Australia National Squad is led by Head Coach Krisztina Szedlak and Assistant Coach, Team Manager Bianca Palmer (Hammett OLY), and Development Coach Hannah Chiangwho is joining the squad as an assistant coach. The Youth Australian National Squad is led by Head Coach Briana Crisp, Assistant Coach, Team Manager Natalia Malinowski, and Development Coach Shyanne Chew, who is joining the squad as an assistant coach.

The Team Australia Junior Squad comprised 11 athletes from New South Wales (1), Queensland (4), Western Australia (4) and Victoria (1), and offered a development position for one more athlete from Victoria. As the Squad has 3 remaining spots to travel to Lima, Peru, we will have a second round of trials in the next couple of weeks.

The January camp was a marvellous success. The Junior athletes fully learning and rechoreographing the Technical Team routine and the Free Team Routine according to World Aquatic’s new Artistic Swimming Rules. The youth athletes worked hard on technique development, learnt the Free team choreography and had great experience on acrobatics training.

Both squad athletes showed great determination and motivation throughout the entirety of the camp and have proven to themselves that they can accomplish great feats together as a team. The AIS facility was amazing and helped achieve an excellent experience for all the athletes.

The Junior squad's goal for the year is to best prepare for the World Aquatics Junior Championships, which will be held in Lima, Peru, at the end of August, and to break into the top twelve.

The Youth squad has a development year, working on progress to show their best at the 2025 Youth World Championship. This year, they will learn Free and Combo Team choreography, focusing on technique and acrobatics. The program includes an international camp with another high-performance youth squad.
