2022 FINA Junior World Championships Recap

Published Mon 17 Oct 2022

This August, Junior Team Australia Competed at the 2022 FINA Junior World Championships in Quebec, Canada.

Over a three-month period, the team prepared with camps in Perth and on the Gold Coast before travelling to Quebec, Canada.

Despite some cancelled flights and lost luggage, the young team arrived in high spirits and was ready to jump into training with only a few days left before the competition began.

Team Australia competed in the Free Solo, Free Duet, and Tech Team events, managing some excellent results despite a stomach bug working through the team. In the Highlight routine, one of the athletes suffered a random injury mid-routine.  The team did an excellent job, despite the difficult circumstances, emerging stronger, with a great display of fortitude, and put on a marvellous Gala swim to conclude the competition.

Coaches Emanuelle Mah and Rebecca Maher are very proud of the team and the resilience that they displayed.

Although not everything may have gone to plan, the team had an invaluable learning experience.
